Regeneration & Renewal, 15 June 2007
A housing, office and retail scheme within the London Thames Gateway in central Barking has been granted full planning permission subject to planning gain deal sign off.
While the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation approved the second phase of Redrow Regeneration's Barking Central scheme, a section 106 deal is still to be fully agreed, the developer said.
The project consists of five buildings designed by architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris around a space created by public realm design firm MUF.
The buildings will contain 275 homes, including 18 affordable three-bed units, 1,950 sq metres of commercial space and 1,720 sq metres of retail space.
Redrow Regeneration expects construction to begin next month.
Barking Central's first phase consists of 246 completed flats along with a public library and learning centre that is due to open this month.
