Name of fund: Investing in Communities
Source of funding: Good causes distributor the Big Lottery Fund
How much is it worth? £237 million
What's it for? It consists of three strands: Growing Community Assets, which aims to help communities gain ownership of local assets; Life Transitions, which funds projects such as those offering employment support or creating jobs; and Supporting 21st Century Life, which funds projects aimed at breaking down barriers within communities and reducing isolation.
Who is eligible? The programme will fund Scottish voluntary and community bodies, local authorities and community councils, social enterprises and companies (provided that grants do not contribute to profits). Individuals or sole traders are ineligible.
How to apply? Before applying for a grant, the Big Lottery Fund strongly advises interested parties to call 0300 123 7110 or email enquiries.scotland@biglotteryfund.org.uk to discuss their idea. Callers will be advised as to whether the proposed project fits with the programme's objectives and will be given information about the next step to take.
