Proposals for Vauxhall Tower approved

Proposals for the 50-storey Vauxhall Tower in London were approved this week by the deputy prime minister. The plans were first submitted in 2003, but Lambeth Council refused to grant permission. They were referred to an independent inspector, who recommended their rejection. John Prescott's decision follows alterations to the scheme's affordable housing content by developers St George.
