Planning permission has been sought for a mixed-use regeneration scheme centred around a new Sainsbury's store in Crosby, Merseyside.

Consultancy Turley Associates today submitted a detailed planning application for the 149,995sq metre project to Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council.

The scheme would involve the construction of a new Sainsbury’s, a multi-storey car park, a transport interchange and a building designed for community uses.

Turley Associates claims that 350 to 400 full- and part-time jobs will be supported by the development, both in the supermarket and in associated retail outlets.

Bob May, director of Turley Associates, said: "This is an exciting application to be involved in, as the proposed development would bring forward much needed investment in Crosby and benefit the local community directly."
