Bathside Bay port scheme moves forward

Environmentalists have reacted with dismay to the government's announcement that it is minded to approve a £300 million "super-port" at Bathside Bay in Harwich, Essex.

The development could turn Harwich into one of the biggest container ports in the country, second only to Felixstowe in Suffolk. The proposal was subject to a five-month public inquiry in 2004. Friends...
