Chester aims for park spur

Planning, 14 November 2008

TEP has been asked to prepare a masterplan for River Dee Park in Chester by the city council.

The project aims to link open spaces near the river to create a park that will boost Chester's recreational offer. The concept of the River Dee Park formed part of the city's bid to the government to become a growth point.

Chester City Council countryside officer Mike O'Kell said: "We have 25 open spaces near the Dee, including parks, nature reserves, woodlands, cemeteries and Chester Racecourse. They are each valued by users but we feel that they could have a greater collective value as a destination."

TEP will carry out site surveys, meet users and prepare the masterplan, along with action plans for ten open spaces. It has a budget of £25,000 and the work will be finished early next year.
