Innovations - IT program that gauges housing quality

An IT system designed to help implement the Government's Decent Homes Standard has been developed by Manchester City Council. Housing officers carry out inspections of private homes and the details are fed into a computer program which automatically calculates if a property meets all the quality standards required by the Department for Communities and Local Government. The program considers factors such as physical structure and safety issues, then produces un-editable evidence for the purpose of official audits. Manchester City Council decent homes and service improvement manager Greg Oxnard answers our panel's questions.
