Liverpool City Council awarded money to transform Central Library

Liverpool City Council was awarded more than £31.5 million last week to transform the city's Central Library. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport awarded the money through the Private Finance Initiative. Once completed, the library will become one of the key buildings in the city's World Heritage Site. The library is set to open during Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
