Trudi Elliott has been appointed the first chief executive of the West Midlands Regional Assembly. She works for the ODPM as regional director of local government practice at the Government Office for the West Midlands. Elliott has previously worked as a solicitor in both the public and private sectors and was formerly chief executive of Bridgnorth District Council in Shropshire.

At Eastleigh Calverley has been director of technical and development services with responsibility for planning, property and engineering services. As deputy chief executive, his responsibilities included economic development.
