Transport improvements

Transport improvements in the South-East worth £530 million have been approved by the Government. Proposed by the South-East England Regional Transport Board, the improvements are intended to help deliver the South-East Plan and the regional economic strategy from 2011 to 2016. The measures include new platforms at Reading station and improved access to Southampton.

Appointment at English Partnerships' National Consultancy Unit

Fiona Piercy has been promoted to lead national regeneration agency English Partnerships' National Consultancy Unit (NCU). The unit provides specialist support to the agency's regional teams where there is a project of particular complexity. In her previous position, Piercy led on major regeneration initiatives in North Staffordshire and Warwickshire. In two further appointments to the NCU, Jill Channer joins on secondment from the Prince's Regeneration Trust, which works to save redundant historically or architecturally significant buildings, as heritage policy adviser, and Bruce Edgar joins on secondment from educational charity the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment to work on the urban design team.
