Walsall's Waterfront project has had £13.8 million of funding approved by regional development agency Advantage West Midlands. The flagship regeneration scheme, which is being delivered by developer Urban Splash, will include offices, retail and leisure space and 154 flats.

Liam Quinn, deputy director of the Department for Social Development's regional development office, will work with local people and agencies in the area to implement the Greater Newry Vision, which outlines regeneration plans for the area.

Mullins will take responsibility for the overall commercial activities in Bristol and assist product managers to deliver their budgets. Mullins previously worked as regional surveying director for EBC Ltd.

SRB programme study

A study of Nottingham's combined single regeneration budget (SRB) programme is to be carried out by Atkins. The company's regeneration and economic development team has been commissioned by Nottingham City Council. The SRB programme has run for 11 years and has spent £140 million. An assessment of the impact that it has made and the lessons that have been learnt is required to support future regeneration in the city. Atkins is working on the study with Netherthorpe and Upperthorpe Community Alliance.

A strategy to regenerate Harlow town centre has been launched by the district council and English Partnerships. The blueprint, drawn up by David Lock Associates, aims to grow Harlow as a key sub-regional centre in the East of England and market a large site earmarked for retail, leisure, housing and public realm uses. It follows the government's plans to expand Harlow by up to 16,000 homes over the next 15 years.
