Project to be carried out by Miller Research

A project to assess retail distinctiveness in four Northumberland market towns is to be carried out by Miller Research. The company has been appointed by Northumberland Strategic Partnership to study Wooler, Seahouses, Amble and Haltwhistle. The research project, funded by regional development agency One NorthEast, aims to create a more distinctive retail experience through an understanding of market town characteristics.

Plans for 432 homes unveiled in Toxteth Street neighbourhood

Plans for 432 homes in the Toxteth Street neighbourhood of east Manchester were unveiled last week after a revised outline plan was approved by Manchester City Council. The scheme, designed to represent a modern interpretation of traditional terraced streets, includes 390 two and three-storey townhouses, 36 two-bedroom flats, six bungalows, car parking spaces, traffic calming measures and local amenities. Lovell, PRP Architects and Adactus Housing Association are partners in the project, led by New East Manchester.

Key scheme in Lochrin Basin development granted planning permission

A key residential scheme in the ongoing Lochrin Basin development near Edinburgh Quay has been granted planning permission by the city council. The £35 million Lochrin Place project aims to unite the southern area of the development, providing 154 apartments in two five-storey blocks. The original canal basin, once part of the Union Canal, will be reinstated to run through the site.

Work set to begin on redevelopment of Moor area in February

Work is set to begin on the redevelopment of the Moor area in Sheffield city centre in February after developer RREEF appointed Cuddy Ltd to demolish Block 10 on Eyre Street. The demolition will make way for the construction of a multi-storey car park on the site to support a planned 5,295m2 indoor market that is due to be built next door. The car park is one of two planned to improve access to the site. In total, the development will feature 1,911 car parking spaces.
