Urban Initiatives to draw up masterplan for Hereford
24 November 2006
A masterplan for the Edgar Street Grid, a key area close to the historic city centre of Hereford, is to be drawn up by Urban Initiatives. The area covers 40ha to the north of the city centre between Blue School Street and the railway. The site contains the city's football stadium, livestock market, retail warehouses, car parks and older buildings with a poor streetscape. The masterplan aims to expand the city centre northwards, creating the 850-home Blackfriars Urban Village and improving access to the station. Urban Initiatives, which was appointed by ESG Herefordshire, expects to complete the plan in March.
