Men living in Newcastle's West End took part in a bowls event as part of a drive by the city's New Deal for Communities (NDC) partnership to improve the health and quality of life of local residents. Twenty men took part in the event at Nunsmoor Park last week. The day was organised by the NDC-supported project Activities for Health.

Derby's New Deal for Communities opens credit union

Derby's New Deal for Communities partnership this week opened a credit union to offer those living and working in the area access to savings and loans. The service, open to 300,000 people, was launched in Derby City Partnership week, during which membership will be free.

Regeneration of Pall Mall in Liverpool to be designed by RHWL Architects

The mixed-use regeneration of the Pall Mall district in central Liverpool will be designed by RHWL Architects. RHWL won a competition run by the English Cities Fund to get the contract. The Pall Mall project will create 150,000 sq metres of mixed-use development in an area currently dominated by car parking.

All-party group launched to raise awareness of urban renewal

An all-party group will be launched next month to raise awareness in Parliament of urban renewal and sustainable development. The British Property Federation will provide secretariat services for the group, and think-tank the Institute for Public Policy Research's Centre for Cities will carry out research.
