Funding granted towards regeneration of Swansea city centre

Over £3 million of European and Welsh public funding has been granted towards the regeneration of Swansea city centre. The Welsh Assembly Government has committed £2 million from the Local Regeneration Fund and the city council has also received a £1.4 million Objective 1 grant.
Worcester City Council bidding for National Lottery funding

Worcester City Council is bidding for National Lottery funding to rejuvenate its riverside. The council will submit a bid in January to the Living Landmarks initiative, a one-off scheme that will award around £25 million each to six applicants. The project includes three foot and cycle bridges, a public square that could be used as an amphitheatre in the summer and an ice rink in the winter and a lighthouse. The first wave of selections will be made in April.
Appointment at Amec Developments

James Crawley has joined Amec Developments as a development surveyor. Crawley previously spent two years with regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, where he worked with urban regeneration company Sheffield One to help deliver the regeneration of Sheffield city centre.
ECOTEC and University of Salford selected to research private rental market in Stoke-on-Trent

ECOTEC and the Centre for Sustainable Urban and Regional Futures at the University of Salford have been selected to research the private rental market in Stoke-on-Trent. They will examine the role played by the private rental sector for Stoke City Council to help ensure that policy responds to local people's housing needs.

The report, backed by the Planning Advisory Service and the English Historic Towns Forum, explains how shops can be added to the high street and enhance the historic environment.
