Plans for a "super library" in Liverpool were unveiled for consultation by the city council this week. The proposals form part of a £35 million project to link the city's Central Library with Liverpool Museum and the Walker Art Gallery to create one large tourist attraction. The scheme, by consultant architects Gaunt Francis, involves demolishing five floors of the library and creating an entrance, visitor centre, cafe and a larger gallery. The library is scheduled to open in 2007, in time for the city's celebrations as European Capital of Culture 2008.
