LDA Urban Design has been appointed to develop an action plan to deliver regeneration in Millbay in Plymouth. English Partnerships and the South West of England Regional Development Agency are working with Plymouth City Council and the local community to deliver the Millbay area regeneration strategy, which was prepared in March. It includes plans for housing, office space, a hotel and restaurants in the waterfront district.

Urban Initiatives have been appointed to lead a design team redeveloping the entrance to Liverpool's Lime Street Station by English Partnerships. The scheme aims to provide a visual landmark to accompany the grade II listed station building in time for the city's celebrations as European Capital of Culture in 2008. Interior improvements are also planned. Network Rail and Liverpool City Council are supporting the project, which will be managed by Liverpool Vision. A planning application is scheduled for next summer.

The Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership (BHRP) was established as a formal company last week following the appointment of Tim Sunter as its director. The company comprises developer Chelsfield, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and Brierley Hill Community Forum. It has been awarded £7.9 million from the European Regional Development Fund, of which £2.2 million is in the form of core funding for the BHRP. The remaining funds are to finance a residential and office development.
