The contract was handed over by the Thurrock site's new owners: Family Mosaic Housing Association, the East of England Development Agency and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
Extra retail space could be added to Lakeside retail basin

An extra 93,000m2 of retail space could be added to the Lakeside retail basin area under proposals from the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation. A study commissioned by the corporation indicates that extra shops could be built in the basin without adversely affecting other areas in the South East. Lakeside could have more than 371,000m2 of retail space by 2021, supporting 4,000 jobs. The final round of public consultations will be completed shortly with a view to adopting the masterplan in the new year.
