Three of six shortlisted developers bidding to build a zero-carbon housing project at Peterborough have dropped out. National regeneration agency English Partnerships confirmed that Barratt Developments, Galliford Try and One Peterborough - a joint venture between developers Crest Nicholson, Bioregional Quintain and housing association Minster - have quit the project.

MPs: old homes need green makeover

The Government is failing to give sufficient priority to cutting carbon emissions from existing homes, MPs have warned. A report by the Communities and Local Government Select Committee says that carbon emissions from old homes are twice as high as from new ones. The report is available via www.regen.net/doc.
