Rising power generation emissions could see the government fail to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent by 2010, according to a report issued this week. WWF-UK claimed that the UK power sector's emissions have rocketed by nearly 30 per cent since 1999. Public buildings could help to tackle climate change more effectively if their performance was measured and understood, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment said this week. Chairman Jon Sorrell told ministers that the government must invest more in assessing energy performance. Developers and designers should then analyse results before embarking on public building projects, he argued.
