The fate of the grade II listed Derby Hippodrome, which Derby City Council claimed faces "demolition" in the hands of its current owner, was set to be decided at the High Court this week. Developer Christopher Anthony bought the building last year and began work on the roof, which he argues is structurally dangerous. But the council contends that it is at risk of being "illegally demolished". It is seeking an injunction restraining further works on the building.
