St Modwen to transform Wales refinery

Developer St Modwen has been selected by energy firm BP, the Welsh Assembly Government, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and charity the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment to transform a former South Wales oil refinery into an urban village. Under the agreement, St Modwen will build around 4,000 homes on the 430ha site at Llandarcy.
Regeneration joint venture agreed

A joint venture has been agreed between developer Chelsfield Partners and John Early, the former chairman of Amec Developments, to deliver large-scale, mixed-use regeneration schemes. The joint venture, Genr8 Developments, is 50 per cent owned by Early, and former Amec colleagues Richard Ingham and Mike Smith, and 50 per cent by Chelsfield.
Architects shortlisted for New Street revamp

A shortlist of six architects has been selected by rail operator Network Rail to compete to redesign the exterior of Birmingham New Street station.
Stockport Metropolitan BC appoints Terrace Hill

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council has appointed property firm Terrace Hill as its preferred development partner to construct a 25,000sq metre business park. According to the firm, the redevelopment, on the site of a former council housing estate in Cheadle Heath, will house up to 2,500 employees.
Balfour Beatty secures Network Rail contract

Engineering firm Balfour Beatty has secured a contract with Network Rail to continue providing refurbishment work on the existing Forth Bridge. The firm has been overseeing restoration and paint work on the bridge since 2002 and will continue the contract until 2012, when the painting of the bridge will come to an end.
JMP takes street design role in Barking Riverside project team
