Good causes distributor the Big Lottery Fund is likely to provide fewer, less specific programmes from 2009, outgoing BLF chief executive Stephen Dunmore has indicated. He told Third Sector magazine that the fund's current range of 15 to 20 programmes was "over-complicated". The BLF will launch a consultation later this year on the shape of its funding programmes post-2009.
Artists shortlisted for Ebbsfleet sculpture

Five artists have been shortlisted for a commission to create a 50-metre-high piece of public art to mark the Ebbsfleet Valley development and Ebbsfleet International station in the Thames Gateway.
Cathedral Group selected for Clapham scheme

The London Borough of Lambeth has selected developer Cathedral Group to build a range of community facilities, including a library, GP surgery, leisure centre and community centre in Clapham. The council said the scheme will also include housing, of which 40 per cent will be affordable.
Durkan awarded Greenwich homes contract

Construction firm Durkan has been awarded a contract to build 267 homes in Greenwich in south-east London by Greenwich Wharf, a subsidiary of property company London and Regional Properties. The scheme will convert former wharfs and a commercial yard into four buildings providing 237 flats and 30 four-bed townhouses for rent, Durkan said.
WRW Developments wins Llanelli office contract

Developer WRW Developments has won a contract from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government to build an office complex in Llanelli, south Wales. The complex will provide space for several businesses. A full planning application will now be made.
Octavian Security wins contract for Gloucester Quays security

Security firm Octavian Security has won a two-year contract to provide security for the redevelopment of Gloucester Quays. The firm has been appointed by Bovis Lend Lease, the project's construction management contractor, to provide 24-hour security for the site. Octavia will provide a dedicated site manager and supervisors to oversee security.
