Good causes distributor the Big Lottery Fund has awarded more than £40 million to 84 projects aimed at improving support for voluntary organisations. Among the charities to benefit from the cash from the BLF's Basis programme is Off the Streets and Into Work, which will receive £895,000 over four years to support groups working in the homeless sector. Hull Citybuild selects Igloo as preferred development partner

Urban regeneration company Hull Citybuild has selected Igloo as its preferred development partner for a mixed-use regeneration scheme on Hull's waterfront. Igloo's proposals for the central section of the Fruit Market scheme include a mix of conversions and new buildings for residential, office, leisure and retail uses.

Kodak signs contract

Photography firm Kodak has signed a contract with developer Land Securities to assess how to reuse redundant parts of its west London production plant. During 2007, Kodak demolished a number of unused buildings on the site of its Harrow and Wealdstone plant. Land Securities will review options for a mixed-use scheme on the site.

Jerde to develop plans for Coventry's city centre

A masterplan for Coventry's city centre will be developed by architecture firm Jerde, the city council has announced. The proposals are likely to involve major demolition in the existing centre and will seek to link separate shopping areas, it said. To help brief Jerde before it begins work, the council has launched a consultation to obtain local people's views.

GVA Grimley to prepare masterplan of Eastbourne and Hailsham

Consultancy GVA Grimley has been appointed to prepare a masterplan to boost the economy of Eastbourne and Hailsham in East Sussex. A project board, made up of representatives from three local authorities and the South-East England Development Agency, made the decision. GVA Grimley will act as the board's partner in preparing the masterplan, which the firm says will aim to create a "sustainable, vibrant and buoyant area".

New Swindon Company chooses Capital Architecture for masterplan

Capita Architecture has been chosen by urban regeneration company the New Swindon Company to develop a masterplan for an 80,000sq-metre town centre scheme. The URC aims to develop the Promenade site as a cultural centre. Initial plans for the area include a new library, theatre complex, museum and cultural centre.
