Mersey growth funding announced

The final phase of funding for Merseyside's growth sectors has been announced by the area's sub-regional development agency. The Mersey Partnership's Sector Development Programme has received total funding of £4.3 million from the North West Regional Development Agency, European Objective 1 funding, and private sector sources.
Community Alliance wins grant

The Community Alliance, a partnership that works to support community groups across England, has been awarded a grant from the Cabinet Office to continue its national programme. The alliance will use the cash to provide training, services and activities to its members, and to develop independent community-led groups.
Living Landmarks considers bids

The Big Lottery Fund has received detailed proposals for funding from its Living Landmarks programme from 23 projects. The programme aims to allow communities to identify their priorities and develop projects that meet local needs. The 23 projects had previously been given grants to develop their ideas and will now compete for a small number of grants of between £10 million and £25 million.

Investment to be made into new manufacturing plant in Newport

A £66.75 million investment is to be made into a new manufacturing plant in Newport, according to the Welsh Assembly Governement (Wag). Irish-based Quinn Group will pour the money into a 16ha site. The investment, intended to further "technological developments to improve energy efficiency in buildings", is expected to create 340 new jobs, says the Wag.
