£1.75 million of funding set aside by NWDA and partners

More than £1.75 million of funding is being set aside by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and its partners to provide 28ha of community woodland for Rochdale. The Belfield Project will regenerate brownfield land to the east of Rochdale town centre.

One North-East approves more than £2.3 million of funding

Regional development agency One North-East has approved more than £2.3 million of funding for its Graduates for Business programme. The money will subsidise the placement of recent graduates in the region's small and medium-sized businesses, giving employers a £70 a week allowance for 15 weeks.

William Skinner and Son awarded contract

Ayrshire-based building contractor William Skinner and Son has been awarded a contract to redesign and refurbish a museum, art gallery and heritage centre in Sutherland in the Highlands. The refurbished Timespan museum in Helmsdale will feature a new storytelling room and include learning and volunteer facilities. It will also have an IT suite and studio flat for resident artists and visiting curators.
