Government's affordable housing agency calling for bids for funding round

The government's affordable housing agency is calling for bids for its 2008-2011 funding round. The Housing Corporation's national affordable housing programme now invites bids from arm's length management organisations and local authority special venture vehicles as well as housing associations and developers. Housing developers to be awarded funding to build homes aimed atfirst-time buyers

Fifteen housing developers are to be awarded funding to build a total of almost 600 homes aimed at first-time buyers. The developments are the second tranche of up to 40 sites that English Partnerships hopes to identify this year through its first-time buyers initiative. The latest round of sites has been put forward by firms such as Barratt, Countryside Properties, Crest Nicholson and George Wimpey.

British Land announced as preferred development partner

British Land was announced as the preferred development partner for the regeneration of Euston station in London this week. Network Rail will work with the firm to create a masterplan to increase the station's capacity and reduce congestion.
