Gateway, Hull's housing market renewal pathfinder, has appointed its strategy and policy manager Laura Carr as operations director, responsible for the delivery of the housing market renewal programme and its coordination with complementary programmes. Sharon Hofman has taken over as strategy and policy manager and Chris Hilton has been appointed development director to lead Gateway's plans to build more than 3,000 homes in Hull over the next ten years.

Sheffield's local enterprise growth initiative Make it Your Business has appointed four new board members: Jay Bhayani, a senior partner at Sheffield solicitors Watson Esam; Dave Campbell, managing director of cleaning supply firm Gems Hygiene; John Bramah, former chairman of manufacturing company Wincobank Foundry and Engineering; and entrepreneur and sixth form student Duncan Swainsbury.

Steve Turner has joined economic development agency Manchester Enterprises as head of carbon economy. In the newly created role, Turner will examine how the city-region can boost its economy while improving the uptake of renewable energy. He previously led Lancashire County Council's work on climate change.
