First to Whitehall, where it seems that mandarins at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport have far too much time on their hands. It has emerged that civil servants from the department have edited more than 100 pages of Wikipedia, the on-line encyclopaedia that anyone can edit. But embarrassingly for the DCMS, it appears that rather than editing entries about William Shakespeare, Stonehenge and Britain's monarchy, its officials chose to amend pages relating to less highbrow cultural icons.
