Stop Press: Princesshay regeneration moves step closer

The regeneration of Exeter's Princesshay area has moved a step forward after the Government agreed to issue compulsory purchase orders on properties occupying land on the proposed site. According to Mike McGuinness, development director at property firm Land Securities, the remaining businesses and residents will be served with the orders over the next few weeks. He said work would start on the main part of the scheme next spring, with completion scheduled for autumn 2007.
Stop Press: Construction of new Wembley Stadium halted

Construction of the new Wembley Stadium was halted this week after the company supplying tonnes of steelwork for the project downed tools in a dispute with the main contractor. Cleveland Bridge, which erected the stadium's 315 metre-long arch, is refusing to provide any more steelwork, claiming that Australian-based Multiplex has failed to pay its bills. Multiplex has refused to comment on the details, but said the stadium would still open in early 2006 as planned.
