London boroughs stand to lose £130 million in funding over the next three years due to "inaccurate" population figures, the umbrella body for the capital's councils said last week. London Councils said that changes to the way the Government calculates councils' populations have resulted in new projections for London's population that are 100,000 lower than previous estimates.

Lovell chosen to refurbish Cheltenham homes

Housing refurbishment firm Lovell has been chosen by arm's-length management organisation Cheltenham Borough Homes to carry out a £3.5 million housing improvement programme. Lovell said it would start work in April on a two-year scheme of housing modernisation for Cheltenham Borough Homes, which manages and maintains Cheltenham Borough Council's housing stock.

Urban Practitioners appointed to prepare Lewisham planning brief

The London Borough of Lewisham has appointed Urban Practitioners as lead consultancy to prepare a planning brief for the Southend Village area between Catford and Bromley. The team includes HKR Architects, engineering practice Alan Baxter and Associates and property consultancy DTZ.

Devonshire Homes appointed to build Tiverton homes

Developer Devonshire Homes has been appointed to build homes on a former workhouse and hospital site in Tiverton, Devon, by national regeneration agency English Partnerships. EP said Devonshire Homes's scheme would create "a range of affordable and environmentally-friendly homes".

Hyder Consulting to examine water infrastructure for Peterborough
