Tottenham Hotspur appoints KSS to design stadium

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have appointed architects KSS to design a 60,000-seat stadium next to their current White Hart Lane ground in north London. Buro Happold, who is working on the 2012 Olympic stadium, will be responsible for technical engineering, the club said. The plans include a club museum, shops and restaurants, 500 homes and a base for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the club's charity.
Southwark selects Balfour Beatty for Building Schools project

The London Borough of Southwark has selected Balfour Beatty to carry out its £200 million Building Schools for the Future project. Balfour Beatty's education public private partnership arm will finalise how it plans to deliver the programme with Southwark council and non-departmental public body Partnerships for Schools, before signing a ten-year partnership contract to rebuild seven schools and build two new ones.
National Construction College selects Morgan Ashurst as preferred bidder

The National Construction College has selected construction firm Morgan Ashurst as preferred bidder to redevelop its campus at Bircham Newton in Norfolk. The project is supported by the Learning and Skills Council, which has agreed in principle to fund 80 per cent of the costs.
London mayor makes appointments

London mayor Boris Johnson has appointed Will McKee to set up and chair a commission charged with regenerating London's suburbs. McKee currently chairs developer Tilfen Land, the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation and property investors the Urban Exposure Group. Johnson has also announced the appointment of Doug Oakervee, who will lead a feasibility study into a new Thames estuary airport, which has been backed by Johnson.

Robert Loudoun has been appointed as construction director for housing services firm Frank Haslam Milan West Midlands. He joins from housebuilder Bovis Homes, where, as construction director, he was in charge of private, social and retirement housing schemes.

Appointment at Cheshire West and Chester Council

Charlie Seward has been appointed as director of regeneration and culture for the new Cheshire West and Chester Council from April 2009. Seward, currently the director of development for Chester City Council, will be responsible for regeneration, culture and recreation, strategic housing and spatial planning. Chester City Council is merging with Vale Royal and Ellesmere Port & Neston borough councils to form the new local authority.
