New Swindon Company announces shortlist

28 July 2006

Inward investment body the New Swindon Company has announced a developer shortlist for a 7ha mixed-use scheme in the town centre. The firms shortlisted for The Exchange - one of seven projects planned for Swindon - are Amec, Akeler, Blackfriars Investments, CTP St James and Eastcott Regeneration Partnership.

Appointment at The British Property Federation

The British Property Federation has appointed Maggie Brenneke as assistant director of corporate responsibility. She will collaborate with the Government on the implementation of European legislation on environmental buildings and develop strategies for improving sustainability in the property industry. Brenneke joins from American-based property consultancy Ecos.

Appointment at YMCA

Angela Sarkis has been appointed as national secretary of the YMCA, the first woman to head the organisation. She is a BBC governor and a commissioner on the Future of Volunteering Commission and has helped to develop government initiatives on young offenders and urban regeneration.

Peter Aviston has been appointed by regeneration and housing specialist Places for People as director of the Walker Riverside renewal project, Newcastle. He moves from partner organisation Newcastle City Council where he was the scheme's corporate project manager.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations has appointed Lynne Gregory as director of planning and resources. Gregory is a former director of charity ChildLine and has a background as a chartered accountant. She replaces Cath Wood, who leaves after eight years in the role.
