Shortlist of developers announced for Olympic Games

A shortlist of developers for the 2012 Olympic Games has been announced by the Olympic Delivery Authority. Construction company Bechtel and consortia CLM, featuring Laing O'Rourke; G3, comprising Amec, Balfour Beatty and Jacobs; and Legacy, including Bovis Lend Lease, will now go through to the next stage. The final appointment will be made in the summer.
Crime Concern appointed by Leicester City Council

National crime prevention organisation Crime Concern has been appointed by Leicester City Council to draw up a crime prevention strategy for the city. Crime Concern says it will focus on the effectiveness of existing youth services and partnerships.
Developers shortlisted for development of Talbot Gateway

Three developers have been shortlisted to prepare detailed proposals for the development of Talbot Gateway in Blackpool. St Modwen, Aec and Crillion/Richardson Partnership were selected by Blackpool Borough Council and urban regeneration company ReBlackpool. The masterplan for the 12.8ha site proposes a civic and cultural quarter comprising apartments, shops, offices and transport interchange.
Scottish Executive to appoint team of independent consultants

The Scottish Executive is to appoint a team of independent consultants to carry out a detailed study of the economic, social and environmental impact of retaining or removing tolls from the Forth and Tay road bridges. Tenders are invited for this work and the consultants will be appointed by the end of the summer. The study will focus on the impact of the tolls on the local economy and on local communities in Fife and Dundee.
Gillespies selected to lead team

Gillespies has been selected to lead a team to prepare an Area Development Framework for Salisbury city centre. The study will examine how the city can retain its heritage and natural environment while capitalising on its potential for growth through new housing, employment and recreation.
Appointment at End Child Poverty

Hilary Fisher has been appointed as the new director of campaign group End Child Poverty. She joins from Amnesty International where she led the group's global campaign to stop violence against women. Fisher is also a member of the Council of Europe Expert Task Force, which is preparing a blueprint for a pan-European campaign to combat domestic violence. Former ECP director Jonathan Stearn has left to join consumer interest group Energywatch.
Appointment at The Centre

Lorraine Prideaux has been appointed as manager of The Centre, a £100 million mixed-use scheme due to open this summer in Feltham's town centre. Prideaux will be responsible for marketing, promotions and the day-to-day running of the complex, which will comprise retail and residential units, a library and a community centre.
Appointment at Hull City Council

Hull City Council has recruited Tracy Harsley as community safety manager to oversee Citysafe, its crime, drugs and disorder reduction team. Her job will include overseeing the coordination of community safety functions and a team to combat anti-social behaviour. Harsley joins from East Riding of Yorkshire Council where she managed the authority's crime reduction team for six years.
Appointment at Atkins

Graham Woodward has joined engineering and planning consultancy Atkins as head of landscape. He will be responsible for generating masterplanning, urban design and landscape design work for the company. Woodward joins from consultancy Scott Wilson, where he was associate director and head of architecture, landscape and urban design.
Tessa Jowell names members of Olympic board

Olympics minister Tessa Jowell has named four members of the Olympic Lottery Distributor board, the body responsible for the distribution of lottery money to support the London Games in 2012. The members are: Hilary Daniels, Sharmila Nebhrajani, Sir Craig Reedie and David Ross. They join chair of the board, Janet Paraskeva, who was appointed earlier this year.
