Scotland's largest sporting and crofting estate is set to become community-owned after it was recommended that the company that runs it be sold to a local community group. The board of directors of South Uist Estates agreed in principle last week to sell the estate for £4.5 million to community group Storas Uibhist.

Boots donates cash to new regeneration company

A new regeneration company set up to drive forward the economic growth of North Lanarkshire will be supported by £3.6 million donated by chemist Boots. The new firm, which is a joint venture between North Lanarkshire Council and Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire, aims to engage with the private sector to deliver new economic development opportunities for the area.

Unilever and Johnson & Johnson share cash

Kelvingrove Museum to receive grant

Glasgow's Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery is to receive a £180,000 European grant to promote it as a prime tourist destination. The money will help create or safeguard 4,500 jobs in the area, according to the Scottish Executive. Kelvingrove is one of 50 projects across western Scotland to benefit from £11 million of European funding.
