Guy Beauchamp has joined engineering firm Cundall as a planning associate. He moves from Castle Morpeth Borough Council. Beauchamp joins Faith Bailey, recently recruited as a consultant planner from North Yorkshire County Council, and Tom Stutkins, who will act as consultant to the practice.
Appointment at Joseph Rowntree Foundation

Debby Ounsted has been recruited to succeed Sir William Utting as chair of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation trustees from October. Ounsted, a trustee of the foundation since 2002 and deputy chair since January 2005, has been chief executive of the Octavia Hill Housing Trust and the Habinteg Housing Association. Utting retires in September.

Will Charlton and Ghazala Javed have joined CSJ Brooke Smith in Birmingham as senior planner and planning assistant respectively. Charlton was previously senior planning officer at Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council. Javed was a planning officer at Birmingham City Council.

Richard Hartland has been appointed head of planning and building standards at Highland Council. Hartland, chairman of the Scottish Society of Directors of Planning, moves from West Lothian Council, where he was development control and building standards manager.
