A plan to transform a deprived area of Salford into a new community was submitted by a housebuilder this week. Countryside Properties has submitted an outline planning application for the Lower Broughton redevelopment. The proposals include up to 1,500 houses and flats.

A design contract for London's planned east-west rail scheme has been handed to consultancy Scott Wilson by Crossrail firm Cross London Rail Links. Scott Wilson will work with track operator Network Rail to prepare a reference design that would be used as the basis of construction once the Crossrail Bill becomes an Act.
