Proposals to expand training opportunities

Proposals to expand training opportunities for low-skilled women were announced in the Budget. The Government plans to double the number of Skills Coaching pilots to 16 Jobcentre Plus districts with a specific focus on helping low-skilled women return to work. The Sector Skills Councils will also receive funding to develop new ways of recruiting and training low skilled women.

The Government is providing £6 million to fund opportunities for disadvantaged young people to develop new skills by getting involved in a range of media projects, in particular by promoting their involvement in TV and radio production.
