Appointment at South West of England Regional Development Agency

Ian Thompson has joined the South West of England Regional Development Agency as director of operations for the northern half of the region. Kay Homer has become director of operations for the southern part of the region. Steve Richards has been appointed head of operations for Wiltshire and Swindon, Chris Foley for Gloucestershire, Ian Knight for the west of England, Bruce Voss for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole and Carl Budden for Somerset.
Chambers to set up new consultancy

Michael Chambers has left the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, where he was director of policy strategy, to set up his own consultancy. Michael Chambers Associates will develop policy ideas with professional bodies, think-tanks, trade associations and private companies.
Appointment at Atkins

Michael Hayes has joined Atkins as a managing consultant in its rail planning team. He joins from the Strategic Rail Authority, where he led on all aspects of passenger demand forecasting.

Rosemary Tinker has been appointed as chairwoman of the Association of Women in Property. Tinker is project manager at construction and property consultancy AYH PLC, where she has worked on quantity surveying, facilities management and project management.
Appointment at Denton Wilde Sapte

Michele Vas and Sarah Youren have both been promoted to senior solicitor by Denton Wilde Sapte. Both are members of the planning and public law group. Annette Chandler, a member of the firm's cross-department project finance team, has also been appointed as a senior solicitor.
Appointment at Faber Maunsell

Derek Gittins has been recruited by Faber Maunsell as an associate director in the consultancy's Newcastle office. He was previously an integrated transport manager at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. Liam Ryan has joined the firm's Redhill office as a principal engineer. Ryan moves from Atkins, where he was a senior transport planner.
