English Partnerships picks developers for Basildon scheme

Regeneration quango English Partnerships has chosen Basildon Community Housing Association and Lovells as the preferred developers for a regeneration scheme in Basildon. The scheme will involve the regeneration of the Craylands estate and a former school site, and see 650 homes built and 600 refurbished. A new centre containing community and retail facilities is also planned.

Swansea Council appoints White Young Green

Swansea Council has appointed consultancy White Young Green to prepare a design and action plan for Swansea Bay. The purpose of the plan will be to identify regeneration and tourism opportunities and link them to ongoing regeneration work in Swansea city centre.

Lancashire council chooses partner for BSF programme

Lancashire County Council has chosen PFI provider Catalyst Lend Lease as the preferred partner to take forward the county's Building Schools for the Future programme. BSF is the Government's £40 billion school building initiative, and in Lancashire will focus initially on Burnley and Pendle, where an estimated £250 million will be invested in new school facilities.

Redrow and Terence O'Rourke chosen for MoD site in Devonport

Housebuilder Redrow Homes and design consultancy Terence O'Rourke have been chosen to take forward the redevelopment of a former Ministry of Defence site in Devonport, Plymouth. They will advise regeneration agency English Partnerships on its proposals to regenerate the Stores Enclave, a former Navy dockyard. The scheme is intended to create 500 homes, a quarter of which will be affordable.

Appointment at Crossrail

Richard Morris has joined Crossrail as operations director. He will be responsible for bringing the planned east-west London rail link through the parliamentary phase into construction. Morris joins from Chiltern Railways, where he was also operations director. His previous roles include operations director of Eurotunnel.

Appointment at Iwan Williams

Affordable housing provider Lovell has appointed Iwan Williams as business development manager for London and the Home Counties. He joins from Hyde Housing Association, where he was development manager.

Sheffield City Council has appointed Scott Porter as manager of Norfolk Heritage Park. Porter will be responsible for continuing the development of the park and its community and conference centre.

Colin Sinclair has been appointed as chief executive of the Manchester Investment and Development Agency Service (Midas). He was previously director of marketing for both Midas and Manchester Enterprises, the economic development agency for Greater Manchester.

Appointment at South West of England Regional Development Agency

The South West of England Regional Development Agency has created two new senior management positions to boost economic development in the north and south of the region. Ian Thompson (above) has been appointed as director of operations (north), and Kay Homer joins as director of operations (south).
