King's Cross redevelopment

The redevelopment of King's Cross, one of the country's largest regeneration schemes, looks set to get the green light next month after planners at Camden Council recommended it be approved. In spite of some local opposition, planning officers said the scheme by developer Argent should go ahead subject to section 106 conditions. It is due to be considered at a planning meeting on 8 and 9 March.
Battersea Park station overhaul

An overhaul of Battersea Park station is planned following an agreement between owner Network Rail and Parkview International, which is redeveloping Battersea Power station. Proposals include constructing a new station concourse and providing escalators and lifts.
Empty properties measures

Measures enabling local authorities to bring empty properties back into use are to come into force in April after the necessary legal mechanisms were laid before parliament last week. The so-called statutory instruments set out how various elements of the 2004 Housing Act will work, including new powers enabling councils to take temporary control of properties that have been empty for more than six months.
