Work Experience with Paul Whitelegg, support worker, Project: London

Paul Whitelegg, 32, is a medical student and volunteer support worker at Project:London, an initiative launched in January by international aid organisation Medecins du Monde. The project works with charities in Tower Hamlets to help vulnerable people access healthcare. Project volunteers help users to register to access basic healthcare and mainstream public health services.

DIY scheme that speeds up housing entry

Epping Forest District Council's decorator voucher scheme is intended to reduce waiting times for empty council properties and help tenants feel more connected to their new homes by allowing them to decorate their new homes themselves. Under the scheme, tenants are provided with free vouchers for decorating materials instead of waiting for the council to carry out the work, thus hastening turnaround times. The council's housing repairs manager, Derek Pinner, answers our panel's questions.
