Yorkshire bridge approved

Plans have been approved for a new bridge in the Yorkshire town chosen for Channel 4's forthcoming regeneration documentary series, The Castleford Project. The 130-metre long bridge is one of 11 schemes being developed as part of the project and is intended to link the town with communities across the River Aire.

Sefton council tenants vote

Tenants of Sefton council have voted to transfer ownership of 11,700 council homes to a new housing association, overturning a decision against stock transfer last August. Seventy-two per cent of tenants voted in favour of the transfer compared with 45 per cent in the last vote. The reversal came after the council proposed severe cuts to its housing services following the initial 'no' vote.
