Green business park is set to be built

A £10 million green business park is set to be built in Fazakerley in Liverpool, creating up to 300 jobs. Liverpool Land Development Company has won permission for the scheme to transform the former Fazakerley Open Air School site into 13,000m2 of light industrial business space. The business park will be a vital part of the regeneration of the East Lancashire Road corridor, one of the key gateways into Liverpool. Developer Priority Sites will begin work in March.
Asda works up plans for a mixed-use development

Asda is working up plans for a mixed-use development at Maidstone East railway station in Kent that could create 500 jobs. The supermarket chain has been appointed by Network Rail to regenerate the site, which is mainly used for commuter car parking. Asda's proposals include a revamped ticket hall, car parking and improvements to the platforms and waiting areas along with a superstore, 100 homes, a hotel and road and pedestrian improvements. An application is expected to be submitted to Maidstone Borough Council in the summer.
SEEDA acquires project in East Cowes

A strategic site required for the delivery of the East Cowes project on the Isle of Wight has been acquired by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). The 0.32ha Trinity Wharf site is located off Dover Road and fronts the River Medina. It comprises yard space, three buildings offering 1,600m2 of floor space and a 60m berth. The land and premises will be used to bring forward a town centre and waterfront scheme led by SEEDA, English Partnerships, Isle of Wight Council and Isle of Wight Economic Partnership.
Appointment at Central Salford

Urban regeneration company Central Salford named Chris Farrow as its chief executive last week. A qualified planner, Farrow has also worked as director of operations at London Docklands Development Corporation and chief executive at the Merseyside Development Corporation. Since 1999 he has been executive director for north Wales at the Welsh Development Agency. Farrow will take up his position next month.
Plans for the first phase of a major regeneration scheme

Plans for the first phase of a major regeneration scheme in Castleford town centre have been approved by Wakefield City Council. The council green-lighted developer Edinburgh House's proposal for 4,645m2 of shop space and a 58-bedroom hotel in the heart of the town as part of a vision to secure its urban renaissance. A planning application for the second phase of the development, featuring a superstore, has also been submitted. Work is expected to start on site later this year.
