CABE announces funding

Design watchdog the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment has announced nearly £1.9 million for its architecture and built environment centres. The funding is intended to help the public engage with the design process. Many of the activities being funded are in areas where major programmes of regeneration are proposed.

Durham project to share National Lottery cash

A project that aims to provide opportunities for young homeless people in Durham is one of a number of groups working with young people in England that will share more than £1.5 million of National Lottery cash. The grants are from the latest round of awards from the Big Lottery Fund's Young People's Fund, which will distribute £40 million over the next two years.

DEFRA freezes grant

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority said that it will be forced to freeze or reduce the budgets for a number of its projects to achieve savings after the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs froze its grant. The £4.9 million grant the national park authority received in 2005/06 will remain at the same level for the next two financial years.

CBI calls for level playing field on public contracts
