More money needed to fund housing in rural areas says commission

More money is needed to fund affordable housing in rural areas, according to the Commission for Rural Communities, part of watchdog the Countryside Agency. In evidence to the affordable rural housing commission, the CRC said the Government also needed to tailor housing policies to meet rural needs.

Plans unveiled for regeneration of Morpeth

Plans for the regeneration of part of Morpeth town centre, including a proposal for a new shopping arcade, have been unveiled by developer Dransfield Properties. The firm said the scheme would create 13 shops, 150 jobs and fund the development of a public library and bus station. Dransfield said it will submit a planning application by the end of February.
