Community support officers to be given powers over truants

Community support officers will be given powers to take truants back to school in measures designed to build "safer, stronger communities", announced by the Home Office this week. The Police and Justice Bill outlines plans for a Police Improvement Agency to "streamline" police services and free up resources for front-line policing.
