Portland Square set for a revamp

Bristol's Portland Square is set for a £10 million revamp after the city council approved the scheme. CSJ Planning Consultants and Narracott Oxford Mills Architects secured planning permission last week to convert and restore 31 and 32 Portland Square on behalf of site owner D&J Singh. The plans also include redeveloping land at the rear of the site into 62 flats and a shop. Work is due to start by next summer.

The Laindon town centre regeneration project in Basildon is set to proceed after Neptune Land and Colonnade Holdings announced that they will submit plans next spring. Basildon District Council is prepared to transfer its holdings to Neptune and use compulsory purchase orders if necessary to assemble further land for the development. A public consultation will be held at the beginning of next year to give local residents and businesses the chance to have their say on the development.
