A public consultation on a review of the planning agreement for Belfast City Airport was launched this week. The airport's management requested the review of the agreement, which governs operations including the number of seats for sale, operating hours, air traffic, noise and flight paths. It wants a reappraisal of the seats for sale restriction, which limits operators to no more than 1.5 million seats on scheduled flights over 12 months. Local authorities, stakeholders and residents groups will all be invited to comment before the consultation closes on 14 January.
Regeneration of Crystal Palace Park receives huge support

The regeneration of Crystal Palace Park has received huge support from Londoners, after 2,500 people responded to a London Development Agency (LDA) consultation. The LDA said the response showed the strength of feeling for the 81ha park and sports centre. The mayor of London, LDA and Sport England stepped in to secure the future of sports in the park earlier this year. The LDA will take on responsibility for the sports centre in February and possibly for the entire park in 2009. Another round of consultation will take place next year.
Locals should play greater role in planning says Wales environment minister

Local people should be encouraged to play a greater role in planning, Wales environment minister Carwyn Jones argued this week. In a written statement to Welsh Assembly Government members on progress made to date by the Planning: Delivering for Wales project, Jones said that communities should feel confident that they can contribute to planning strategies before decisions are made. "It is essential that local authorities enable people to be involved early in the development plan process when they can influence the approach to development and suggest realistic alternatives," he added.
Jane Hamilton appointed chief at Milton Keynes Partnership

Jane Hamilton has been appointed chief operating officer of Milton Keynes Partnership, the delivery body created earlier this year to drive forward development in the area. Hamilton spent the early part of her career working for several central London boroughs, including Camden and Westminster. In 1992 she took up a post in Milton Keynes with the Commission for the New Towns and her most recent role was at English Partnerships as area director for the Milton Keynes-South Midlands area.
