The Government is to help fund sports charity the Football Foundation's work with a £45 million package. Culture secretary Tessa Jowell last week confirmed that the Government will match £45 million from the Football Association and the Premier League over the next three years. The new funding will be split, with £20 million being provided by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and £25 million of Lottery money coming from national sports development agency Sport England. The Football Foundation is the largest sports charity in the country and has so far invested in 1,660 football projects worth a total of £390 million.
